High Concentration Photovoltaic Fresnel Lenses
High Concentration Photovoltaic system
There are several technologies to convert solar power into electricity. Silicon based solution, including single, poly crystalline, and Thin-film poly crystalline, takes more than 90% share of current market. The current conversion rate of silicon based solution is limited to 18% to 24.7% max. However, the conversion rate of compound based chip, such as GaAs/GAInP/Ge crystalline, can achieve around 30% to 41.6% max. HCPV is the compound based solution that provides the highest efficiency. There are two types of HCPV system: one is reflective type using either reflective dish or linear Fresnel technology, the other one is refractive type using circular Fresnel lens or lens array.
Concentration Photovoltaic Fresnel Lenses
product line is the refractive type of Concentration Photovoltaic Fresnel lens and lens array. Comparing to traditional PV, the advantage is quite straight forward.
- Conversion efficiency
- Minimized solar cell usage: Low total cost even added up the tracker and module costs
- No material shortage issue
- Recyclable material
- Utilization of dry and otherwise deserted land
Applications
Solar concentrators are often mounted on a solar tracker in order to keep the focal point upon the cell as the sun moves across the sky. With the concentration of the sun light, the cells require high-capacity heat sinks to prevent thermal destruction.
HCPV is suitable for large-sized solar power plant and/or combination with parking lot and farm application. The desired locations for HCPV are those with abundant sunshine and dry weather.
Lens Construction
product series consists of two different type of material: Silicon on Glass and PMMA.
